![]() ![]() This year my wife Susan and son Stephen joined me for a week at Mound A. Work continues to excavate this area before the river claims it.
![]() ![]() Hey, you have to get a little wet to have fun! Stephen is water screening a bucket of dirt his mother had excavated. To the right is pieces of pottery and a piece of flint he washed out.
![]() SEAC crewman Chuck Lawson puts a new pump into action to supply the water from the river to do the screening with. Chuck was in charge of ensuring that we had power from the generators and water from the pumps and holding tank. He did a great job of keeping us with both.
![]() The Shiloh Park Superintendent looks at the project with David Anderson, CO-Director of the dig.
![]() Here, CO-Directors David Anderson (l) and John Cornelison discuss one of the layers being excavated.
![]() A hearth they uncovered, which they later removed intact for farther study.
![]() On the way home, we cruised the Natchez Trace Parkway from Highway 64 to where it ends just below I-40. Near the northern end is this unique double arch bridge that I used as a backdrop behind my lovely wife Susan.
